Copper supply is tightening structurally, gold is near record levels, and the market is still hunting for the junior that straddles both. PTX Metals (TSXV: PTX) does exactly that — with two 100%-owned flagship assets in one of the world's most mining-friendly jurisdictions, and a drill bit turning right now.
The W2 Copper-Nickel-PGE Project sits in Ontario's Ring of Fire, approximately 475 km northeast of Thunder Bay. This isn't a grassroots play — prior operators Inco, KWG, and Aurora Platinum spent roughly $25 million and drilled more than 20,000 m across the property before PTX consolidated it. That's a deep foundation of historical data that most junior explorers would envy.
The W2 conceptual exploration target stands at 60–135 Mt at 0.5–0.78% CuEq — a bulk-tonnage scale that puts it firmly in the conversation for a district-scale Cu-Ni-PGE system. The mineralization is hosted in a deformed, sulfide-bearing, highly magnetic gabbroic unit with an estimated 8-km strike length.
3D magnetic inversion modeling completed in 2025 has identified stacked near-surface bulk tonnage targets reaching up to 1,850 m width in section. That kind of geometry, confirmed by high-resolution airborne magnetics and LIDAR topography surveys — both completed in 2025 — is exactly what you want to see before a drill program.
That program is now underway. PTX commenced a 5,000 m diamond drilling campaign in December 2025, targeting the CA1 and AP zones of the Central Target. Preliminary metallurgical testing, paragenesis study, and age dating are also in progress — the company is building the technical case in parallel with the drill bit.
Logistics in the Ring of Fire are a real consideration, and PTX has addressed them head-on. Winter road access runs from Pickle Lake, road studies for all-season access are underway, and cooperation agreements with Webequie First Nation are in place alongside Ontario government infrastructure commitments. Permitting and community risk — two factors that have derailed Ring of Fire projects before — are being managed proactively.
Meanwhile, 100 km southeast of Timmins, the Shining Tree Gold Project is advancing along the same Ridout-Tyrrell Deformation Zone that trends through Newmont's Borden Mine and IAMGOLD's Côté Gold operation. Bisected by Highway 560 with year-round truck access, Shining Tree is about as accessible as a Northern Ontario gold project gets.
The surface grades here are genuinely eye-catching. SRK Consulting-supervised sampling in October 2025 returned up to 69.00 g/t Au at the Rhonda Target and 18.82 g/t Au at the Herrick Target. Channel sampling in February 2024 had already returned up to 60.30 g/t Au over 0.50 m within a broader interval of 9.04 g/t Au over 16.15 m.
SRK's structural review has now identified the controls on gold mineralization along both the Rhonda and Herrick structures, and Terrascope Inc. completed a drone magnetics survey in December 2025 — 2,783.5 line km flown at 35 m spacing across the ~225 km² property. That data is feeding directly into drill target definition.
PTX also holds a 50.73% interest in Green Canada Corporation, a uranium exploration subsidiary with projects in the Athabasca Basin, Thelon/Baker/Amer Basins, and Otish Basin. GCC is pursuing a reverse takeover of MAACKK Capital Corp. to become a separately listed uranium explorer — a potential value unlock that doesn't yet appear to be priced into PTX shares.
The near-term catalyst stack is dense. W2 drill results from the 5,000 m campaign are expected to flow through 2026, each hole testing a bulk-tonnage Cu-Ni-PGE target backed by $25M of prior work. At Shining Tree, a drill program is being scoped following completion of structural analysis and the high-resolution drone magnetics — meaning drill permits and a program announcement could come at any time.
Add a potential GCC listing event on top of that, and PTX is carrying more near-term news flow than most single-asset juniors — across copper, gold, and uranium — all from a single TSXV-listed vehicle. Investors who wait for the first assay release to take a position will be buying into a story the market has already started to price.
The investor package has the full technical data, drill maps, and management outlook. If you're building a position in critical minerals and gold exploration, this is the document you want before the next announcement hits the wire.
