Athena Gold Concludes Nine Hole Drill Program In Nevada

Drilling under the spring drill program at Athena Gold’s (CSE: ATHA) flagship Excelsior Springs project, found in Esmeralda County, Nevada. The program as a whole drilled 1,140 metres in aggregate.
“The primary objective of our Spring 2023 RC drill program was to determine continuity of the shallow high-grade gold mineralization encountered in 2022; with step-outs both east and west, this will further define the target zone and set the stage for additional drilling,” commented CEO John Power on the program.
Drilling under the program consisted of nine reverse circulation drill holes, for which assays are now pending. The program was designed as a follow-up to success seen in the 2022 drill program, which intersected 33.5 metres of 5.15 g/t gold in hole DB-23.
Field work focused on developing further shallow and high grade drill targets continues at the project, with recent field work focused on the Contact Gulch, found 0.5 miles east of the Western Slope Zone. Both rock and soil samples are pending from the zone following geologic mapping conducted previously.
Assays from both the drill program and sampling are expected to be received in the third quarter of 2023.
Additional drilling was previously indicated to take place later this year after Athena studies the results from the first drill program.
“We continue to believe Excelsior Springs is emerging as one of the best advanced gold exploration projects in Nevada’s Walker Lane Trend,” continued Power.
Athena Gold last traded at $0.075 on the CSE.
