Aztec Minerals, Endeavour Silver See Founder And Chair Bradford Cooke Pass Away

Another force to be reckoned with in the Canadian junior markets has passed away. Bradford Cooke, whom was the founder and chairman of Aztec Minerals (TSXV: AZT) as well as Endeavour Silver (TSX: EDR) passed away earlier this week.

Cooke’s passing was said to be sudden and unexpected, as per both firms in which he chaired. He was 67.

An accomplished geologist, Cooke appears to have taken the bull by the horns after several decades in the metals and mining sector back in 2003, when he co-founded Endeavour Silver. The company was formed with the goal of acquiring and developing silver and gold projects in Mexico. That challenge was met head on, with Endeavour acquiring and developing a total of four mines, with a current discovery on its way to be the firms fifth.

Separately, he was also involved in the founding of Aztec Minerals, whom is focused on the discovery of polymetallic minerals in the Americas, including its flagship Cervantes gold-copper project in Mexico and the Tombstone gold-silver property in Arizona.

“The board and management of Aztec are incredibly saddened by this sudden loss. He will be sincerely missed and always remembered by his large group of family and friends around the world. He will always be remembered for his passion, commitment, and hard-working attitude and contributions to the mining industry,” commented Aztec CEO Simon Dyakowski.

Cooke’s passing follows two other notable recent passings of industry giants, including Ned Goodman, founder of Dundee Corp amongst others, as well as Lukas Lundin, of Lundin Mining.
