Copper Squeeze: Why $4.50/lb is Still Below Incentive Price

At The Rule Symposium in Boca Raton, Florida, Hayden Locke, CEO of Marimaca Copper Corp. (TSX: MARI), provided insights into the company’s promising Chilean copper project.

Locke highlighted several key aspects of Marimaca’s operations, including its low-risk location, where he emphasized the project’s strategic positioning in Chile, known for its mining-friendly environment and established infrastructure. He also talked about the financial potential of the Marimaca project, explaining how it stands out in the current copper market.

“Marimaca is a very unique copper development project,” he said. “Number 1, we’re in Chile but we’re in the low coastal range of Chile, we’re not in the high Andes. That significantly reduces the execution risk and the capital cost associated with building that project. So what that means is we don’t need a large-scale partner to build this project. We can finance it ourselves, we can execute it ourselves, and we can become a copper producer ourselves.”

He also outlined the company’s roadmap from development to production, providing clarity on Marimaca’s future plans, as well as the forthcoming study and its potential impact on the project’s valuation.
