Datametrex Confirms COVID-19 Test Kits Are Capable Of Detecting New Strain Of Virus
Datametrex AI Limited (TSXV: DM) this morning issued a quick update to the market. The company has indicated that it has received confirmation from its supplier for the 1copy™ COVID-19 qPCR Multi Kit, which is Health Canada approved, that it is capable of detecting the new strain of COVID-19.

The new coronavirus strain, which is thought to have originated within the United Kingdom wherein it is currently spreading rapidly, is a mutation of COVID-19 that is thought to be up to 70% more infectious. The strain has reportedly already entered Canada and the United States, along with numerous other global regions as reports continue to arise.
The manufacturer of Datametrex’s test kits officially confirmed via a report on December 25, 2020, that it is capable of detecting this new strain.
“This new mutated strain of COVID and its potential spread beyond the UK clearly demonstrates the importance of testing travelers. If testing was made mandatory before any travel was permitted, the globe would have a better chance of containing and preventing the spread of COVID-19.”
