First Phosphate Successfully Creates Battery-Grade Purified Phosphoric Acid From Concentrate

FULL DISCLOSURE: This is sponsored content for First Phosphate.

First Phosphate (CSE: PHOS) continues to see success in its pilot project initiative, reporting this morning that it has successfully created purified phosphoric acid, or PPA, from phosphate concentrate generated from one of its projects.

“Our full transformation process from Quebec igneous phosphate rock to PPA for LFP batteries is now complete. We can now engage our partners to begin the pilot process of producing LFP cathode active material and LFP battery cells from a fully North American source of battery-grade PPA,” commented CEO John Passalacqua on the major milestone.

The successful creation of purified phosphoric acid follows the company in September seeing Prayon successfully transform its phosphate concentrate into merchant grade phosphoric acid, which was conducted at Prayon’s facilities in Belgium. The second stage of the process to transform into the PPA has now been successful, with the process utilizing food grade / battery grade specifications from Prayon.

The company now intends to continue on the LFP battery supply chain path, with First Phosphate aiming to begin a pilot program that will see its PPA utilized for the creation of LFP cathode active material and LFP battery cells.
