Snoop Dogg Reveals What ‘Giving Up Smoke’ Was All About and It’s Not What Anyone Expected

When iconic rapper and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg, who once revealed that he pays someone $40,000-$50,000 to roll his blunts, said that he was “giving up smoke” via a cryptic black-and-white social media post on Thursday, people were of course suspicious.

Cannabis has, for the most part, defined his persona, his music, and the rest of his career. He even has his own line of weed, Leafs by Snoop, which was launched in Denver in 2015, and he co-founded the cannabis investment fund, Casa Verde Capital. For Snoop, who’s real name is Calvin Broadus, giving weed up is almost akin to LeBron James giving up basketball. People weren’t convinced and many wondered if it was an ad for a vape brand or maybe edibles.

On Monday, Snoop revealed that it was indeed an ad, but nothing like anyone expected. Instead, the artist revealed that he is partnering with Solo Stove, a smokeless fire pit brand.

“I love a good fire outside but the smoke was too much. Solo Stove fixed fire and took out the smoke. They changed the game and now I’m excited to spread the love and stay warm with my friends and family,” Snoop, the company’s official “smokesman,” said in a press release. The official collaboration was released at 4:20 EDT.

The “giving up smoke” stunt was made less believable by the fact that it came right on the heels of a joint product launch, called “Best Buds Bags,” with his frequent collaborator, lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart. The limited edition crossbody bag, according to Snoop, has “got it all. From my favorite lighter, favorite color, and dime-sized secret stash pockets to stash my favorite herbs.”

It also comes just days after the rapper signed a collaboration deal with vape manufacturer Ispire Technology, which would see the launch of ‘Dogg lbs,’ a THCA vape collection endorsed by Snoop Dogg.
