Buffalo Niagara International Airport has been dealing with a fuel delivery problem since early Monday, according to passengers and aviation watchers posting on social media, leaving some aircraft unable to refuel as usual.
The airport is small and gets its jet fuel by truck rather than pipeline, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. He wrote that the disruption is likely tied to “an equipment issue at the local terminal” or “a quality issue,” rather than anything more serious, calling the situation “not concerning at this point.” Airlines can carry in extra fuel from other airports in the meantime, he added.
One person replying to De Haan, who said they had spoken to someone local, described a problem at the airport’s fuel farm preventing fuel from moving through the system, with trucks brought in as a workaround. That detail hasn’t been independently confirmed.

Buffalo Niagara, the third-busiest airport in New York state with about 5 million passengers a year, has not issued a public statement on the disruption as of this writing.
