Air Canada Grounds Pilot Who Posted “F*ck You Israel, Burn In Hell”

Air Canada (TSX: AC) has taken disciplinary action against one of its pilots due to controversial social media posts that have stirred public concern. The airline confirmed the suspension of the pilot who has been associated with pro-Palestinian demonstrations and made inflammatory statements regarding Israel. The posts in question depicted the pilot attending these demonstrations, wearing Palestinian colors over his uniform, and even holding a sign that shockingly associated Israel with Adolf Hitler.

The pilot in question, First Officer Mostafa Ezzo, took to social media with these contentious posts on Monday. This occurred just two days after a disturbing escalation of conflict in the Middle East, as Hamas forces crossed the border from the Gaza Strip into Israel, leading to the loss of civilian lives and hostage situations. Ezzo identified himself as a Boeing 787 First Officer on his LinkedIn profile, which has since been removed.

In one of his posts, he indicated his support for Palestine, along with the caption: “Free Palestine” and “F*ck You Israel, Burn In Hell”.

Air Canada released an official statement via a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) expressing its grave concern over the situation. The airline acknowledged the gravity of the situation and acted swiftly by suspending the pilot on Monday, October 9. In their statement, Air Canada firmly denounced violence in all its forms.

“We are aware of the unacceptable posts made by an Air Canada pilot. We are taking this matter very seriously, and he was taken out of service on Mon, Oct. 9. We firmly denounce violence in all forms,” the company said in its social media page.

While Ezzo remains an employee of Air Canada, he has been effectively grounded. The airline is taking these concerns very seriously, as they work to address the issue and reaffirm their commitment to non-violence.
