Amazon Launches Bedrock, the New Rival to ChatGPT
Amazon is reportedly working on a new AI project known as “Bedrock” to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-3 and DALL-E.
According to a blogpost published on Thursday, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has developed a new rival generative AI toolkit that can create text, images, and build chatbots with human-like capabilities. The project is expected to leverage AWS’s cloud computing infrastructure and vast dataset to train the model, and is only currently available to AWS customers.
Bedrock is believed to be part of Amazon’s broader strategy to enhance its AI capabilities and expand its presence in the AI market. One of the key differentiators of Bedrock compared to existing AI models like GPT-3 and DALL-E is its integration with AWS’s cloud computing infrastructure. This is expected to give Bedrock an advantage in terms of scalability, allowing it to handle large amounts of data and process complex tasks efficiently. AWS’s extensive dataset, which includes vast amounts of text and images from various sources, is also expected to contribute to the training of Bedrock.
The unveiling comes after Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced the company is “investing heavily” into “transformative” generative AI and large language models. “Let’s just say that LLMs and Generative AI are going to be a big deal for customers, our shareholders, and Amazon,” he wrote in his annual shareholder letter.
