BANANA REPUBLIC: Liberal Party Blocks Chandra Arya From Leadership Race
The Liberal Party of Canada is evidently arbitrarily deciding who can and can’t run for party leadership. Leadership candidate Chandra Arya this afternoon indicated that he has been informed by the party that he will not be allowed to partake in the leadership race.
“Today, I was informed by the Liberal Party of Canada that I will not be permitted to enter the leadership race. While I await their official communication, I am carefully considering my next steps,” Chandra said via X.
The comment was prefaced by Arya extending his thanks to the volunteers that worked to support his leadership campaign.
Prior to the announcement, Chandra earlier today had suggested that two additional leadership debates be added to the current schedule, one focusing on economic and industrial policies, while the other was to focus on foreign and international trade policies.
Chandra had previously indicated that he had submitted the required compliance deposit, along with met the required 1,000 endorsements to qualify to run for leadership. On January 21 he posted to X that he had formally submitted his application package to the Leadership Committee, which is believed to have been accepted on January 22.
