The sudden death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, has fueled a wave of speculation from Russian dissidents, MAGA influencers, and commentators across the political spectrum that the Kremlin or Iranian intelligence services killed him, though no public evidence supports the claims and medical examiners point to a natural cause of death.
Graham, 71, died July 11, a day after returning from a trip to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. His office attributed the death to a “brief and sudden illness.” Police scanner audio indicated first responders were dispatched to his Capitol Hill home for a reported cardiac arrest, and a preliminary finding from the DC medical examiner’s office cited aortic dissection linked to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, a natural cause tied to hardening of the arteries.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), appearing overall outwardly healthy, spoke to reporters yesterday in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, expressing support for the White House’s decision to impose tougher sanctions on Russia. The most detailed theory came from Igor Eidman, an exiled Russian sociologist and opposition commentator, who argued there was a high probability that Russian intelligence had killed Graham, pointing to Graham’s push for tougher Russia sanctions and his recent Ukraine trip. Eidman speculated Graham could have been exposed to a delayed-acting poison through personnel involved in his travel.

According to sociologist Eidman, two factors point in this direction — the timing and the location.

Far-right activist and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, who has nearly two million followers on X, drove much of the speculation from the American right, asking whether Russia had “blown up” or poisoned Graham and pointing separately to Iranian officials she said had called for his assassination five days before his death.

Putins’s advisor Alexander Dugin, @AGDugin, is calling for the assassination of President Trump while falsely blaming Israel for the death of Senator Lindsey Graham. The sudden death of Lindsey Graham can be the black mark sent to Trump. I doubt it were Iranians. Most realistic it was Mossad job in order to push Trump to renew full scale war with Iran. It clearly means “you are the next”. Lindsey Graham was the shadow of Trump, his black self

Libertarian podcaster Clint Russell, floated a “decent chance” Russia was behind Graham’s death, tying it to a separate, unverified claim that Russia had struck a Ukrainian drone facility Graham had toured the day before.
OK get your tinfoil ready.

Graham inspected a drone factory in Ukraine yesterday. Russia blew up that facility today. Then, tonight, it is announced that Graham is dead from a "sudden illness". No more details
I'd say there is a decent chance that Russia blew up Lindsey Graham. https://t.co/OOPKCyP5Sk
None of the commentators cited intelligence sources, witnesses, or forensic evidence, and Russian and Iranian officials have not responded to the claims.
The FBI is assisting local authorities in the investigation, Director Kash Patel said in a statement praising Graham. Federal law enforcement sources said this was standard procedure for a sitting senator’s death and that investigators have found no evidence of foul play.

The medical examiner’s office said Graham’s death certificate will remain pending until toxicological and microscopic testing are complete, which is standard practice for autopsies performed in the district.
Graham had long been a vocal critic of Moscow. He drew a rebuke from the Kremlin in March 2022 after telling Fox News he hoped a Russian citizen would assassinate Putin “by any means possible,” a remark spokesman Dmitry Peskov branded as reckless anti-Russian rhetoric.
He was also one of Congress’s most staunch supporters of Israel and the war in Iran. Iranian state media celebrated his death following its announcement.
