Diario Red América Latina and the Hondurasgate investigative portal published audio recordings that allege Argentine President Javier Milei contributed $350,000 to fund a regional disinformation campaign targeting left-wing governments in Mexico, Colombia, and Honduras.
The recordings, dated January 30, 2026, capture conversations between former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández and current Honduran President Nasry Asfura and Vice President María Antonieta Mejía.
Bombshell: Leaked audio recordings prove Argentina's libertarian President Javier Milei is conspiring with the drug lord Juan Orlando Hernández — the drug-trafficking former dictator of Honduras, whom Trump freed from prison.

In one exchange, Hernández tells Asfura he spoke directly with Milei and describes the call as “very, very, very good.” He proposes establishing a US-based digital news operation with support from members of the US Republican Party, designed to “attack and eradicate the cancer of the left” across Latin America, with specific targets including the governments of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Colombian President Gustavo Petro, and members of Honduras’s Zelaya family.
Hernández requests that Asfura transfer approximately $150,000 to set up the operation, describing a covert unit operating from the US to avoid tracking by Honduran authorities. In a separate audio, Hernández tells Asfura that Milei pledged $350,000 toward the effort.
In a March 18 voice note to Honduran National Congress President Tomás Zambrano, Hernández relays what he claims are Trump’s instructions: “In Honduras, strength is needed, logistics are needed, blood is needed. If you want to keep people controlled, you need to oppress them.”
La Jornada, a Mexican newspaper, reported on the recordings on Saturday. Diario Red América Latina, directed by former Spanish Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias and operating out of Mexico, broke the story alongside the Hondurasgate portal.
Milei’s government has issued no public response to the specific allegations. Hernández was sentenced to 45 years in a US federal prison on drug trafficking charges before Trump granted a pardon.
