Earnings season is back, and the mining segment has received a kick start to the cycle with sector leader Newmont (TSX: NGT) posting strong results. The world’s largest gold miner in the second quarter broke a new cash flow record off the back of a strong gold price, setting the sector up for what should be some of the strongest results experienced in years.
That is, of course, provided that operators have managed to keep costs in line while money is flowing.
