India and Pakistan are locked in their most serious confrontation in years after Islamabad claimed intelligence shows New Delhi preparing for military action within a 36-hour window.
The warning from Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar came amid rising hostilities following a deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam region last week. Tarar said India was planning strikes based on what he called false allegations of Pakistani involvement in the incident.
“Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends carrying out military action,” Tarar wrote on social media platform X, specifying a 24-36 hour timeframe.

The disputed Kashmir region, controlled partially by both countries since their independence from Britain, has been a flashpoint for decades, with the neighbors fighting three wars over the territory.
International concern has prompted intervention from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who contacted leaders from both countries. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also urged restraint and plans to speak with officials from both governments.
Indian officials have not directly responded to Pakistan’s claims of imminent military action, leaving the region in tense anticipation as international observers fear potential escalation between the nuclear powers.
