Officers arrived at McLuhan Court residence after a 9:11 p.m. call, prompting a…
Peel police have not publicly said whether shots were fired. The student newspaper’s headline said a shooting was reported in a single unit, and a local outlet reported shots fired. Another report said the campus status map had police confirming gunfire nearby by about 11 p.m.
McLuhan Court is the University’s residence for first-year students.
The order still stood at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The school then announced in an alert early Tuesday that it had partially lifted the order, and the lockdown remains in effect for McLuhan Court. The university had said it would send alerts every 30 minutes until police deemed the area safe.
There is no word yet on a suspect, a motive, or when the residence lockdown would end as of this writing.
