Village Farms’ Pure Sunfarms Launches Cannabis 2.0 Products In BC

Village Farms (TSX: VFF) (NASDAQ: VFF) and Emerald Health Therapeutics (TSXV: EMH) individually announced this morning that their joint venture Pure Sunfarms has begun shipping cannabis 2.0 and cannabis oils products to provincial distributors. The first products under these new categories are to begin arriving at retailers in BC in the coming days.

Shipments of these new products are to begin in British Colombia, with Ontario and Alberta to follow. In respect of a timeline, the company simply stated that they’ll hit these additional markets “shortly.”

The first products to hit the markets in these categories will consist of full spectrum 510-thread vape pens, which contain 0.5 grams of cannabis each. Current strain offerings being sold in this format include Afghan Kush, White Rhino, and Island honey. In terms of oil products, current offerings include 30 mL packages with either a 1:10 or 1:30 CBD to THC formula.

These new products are anticipated to drive higher gross margins in the months ahead, once the operation begins extracting its own biomass on site for the new products. This aspect of operations is currently said to be pending Health Canada licensing approvals. The company intends to utilize a similar pricing strategy as it did with its dried flower offerings to drive market share capture.

Village Farms last traded at $4.93 on the Nasdaq.
