US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on September 29 directing federal agencies to drop “artificial intelligence” in favor of “super intelligence,” or SI, across correspondence and policy documents. Trump has said “artificial” makes the technology sound “fake,” and the order puts the White House’s top science adviser in charge of drafting a formal federal definition of it.
That same day, Trump and six AI company chiefs — OpenAI‘s Greg Brockman, Anthropic‘s Dario Amodei, Meta‘s Mark Zuckerberg, Google‘s Sundar Pichai, Nvidia‘s Jensen Huang and xAI‘s Elon Musk — signed a voluntary “Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities,” vowing internal safety reviews, third-party audits and board-level oversight of their AI systems.
The signature block under Trump’s name read “President of the Unites States” — an error that quickly became the story, with former congressman Justin Amash among those mocking it online.
The rename touched off a scramble for Slovenia’s “.si” domain suffix, which matches the new abbreviation. After Trump’s September 22 announcement, daily .si registrations climbed to roughly 3,700 — more than the registry used to see in an entire month — and the total has since passed 220,000, in a country of 2.1 million people. Anthropic moved fast too, snapping up five domains, including claudesuperintelligence.com and anthropicsuperintelligence.org, inside three hours of Trump’s speech.

Netcraft, a cybersecurity research firm, found .si registrations climbing before the public announcement — around September 19, coinciding with a Truth Social poll Trump ran that day on renaming AI, three days ahead of the UN speech that confirmed it. Researchers flagged domains including donaldjtrump.si and superintell.si that buyers quickly relisted for resale, though they stopped short of concluding those buyers had inside knowledge of the announcement.
Crypto analyst Adam Cochran, in an analysis posted on X, says that speculators scooped up or flipped roughly 12,000 AI- and MAGA-themed domains in the two months before the announcement, calling it “another criminal plot to enrich the Trump family.”
The Trump family’s cryptocurrency ventures, including a January 2025 meme coin, have produced speculative windfalls and drawn scrutiny before.
