Aldebaran Resources Reports 22 Billion M&I Pounds Of Contained Copper In New Resource Estimate

Aldebaran Resources (TSXV: ALDE) this morning has published an updated mineral resource estimate for its Altar copper-gold project in Argentina. The revised estimate consists of three main porphyry discoveries, which are all contained within a single open pit concept.

Highlights from the mineral resource estimate include:

  • Measured resources of 780.8 million tonnes at 0.43% copper, 0.09 g/t gold, 1.03 g/t silver, 21 ppm molybdenum and 156 ppm arsenic
    • Contained measured metal of 7.4 billion pounds copper, 2.3 million ounces gold, 25.8 million ounces silver
  • Indicated resources of 1,616.6 million tonnes at 0.41% copper, 0.05 g/t gold, 1.31 g/t silver, 52 ppm molybdenum, 115 ppm arsenic
    • Contained indicated metal of 14.7 billion pounds copper, 2.8 million ounces gold, 68.0 million ounces silver
  • Inferred resources of 1,215.7 million tonnes at 0.37% copper, 0.04 g/t gold, 1.25 g/t silver, 45 ppm molybdenum, 98 ppm arsenic
    • Contained inferred metal of 9.8 billion pounds copper, 1.7 million ounces gold, 49.0 million ounces silver

On a combined basis, the project is said to have 22.01 billion pounds of copper, 5.08 million ounces of gold and 93.76 million ounces of silver in the measured and indicated category, along with 9.83 billion pounds of copper, 1.71 million ounces of gold, and 49.04 million ounces of silver in the inferred category. Versus the prior estimate published in 2021, measured and indicated copper pounds improved by 94%, while inferred copper pounds grew 462%.

“Over the past several years we focused on expanding the footprint of the Altar deposit, completing over 63,000 m of drilling since we reported the last mineral resource estimate in 2021. The results reported today demonstrate that Altar is one of the largest undeveloped copper-gold deposits in the world,” commented John Black, CEO of Aldebaran.

Work towards a preliminary economic assessment has begun on the project, with the PEA slated to be released in the second quarter of 2025.

Aldebaran Resources last traded at $2.00 on the TSX Venture.
