Aya Gold Hits Commercial Production At New Processing Plant

Aya Gold & Silver (TSX: AYA) has achieved commercial production at its new processing plant at the Zgounder mine, which follows the first silver pour that was conducted at the end of November.

Commercial production was officially achieved on December 29, following a 30 day period where 45,683 tonnes of ore was processed at the new mill. Processing rates are said to have averaged 84 tonnes per hour, with 75% availability. 76% of nameplate capacity was achieved, with an average of 1,523 tonnes processed each day, with silver recoveries sitting at a reported 79%. Throughput is reported to have reached 2,152 tonnes per day on the 29th, with recoveries remaining at the 79% level.

Aya has defined the achievement of commercial production as a period of 30 days wherein the mill operated at at least 60% of nameplate throughput of 2,000 tonnes per day.

“This transformative milestone reflects the dedication and expertise of our employees and contractors who built, tested, ramped up and are now processing ore from both Zgounder’s open-pit and underground operations. With over 600 full-time employees, a fully funded expanded operation and a strong financial foundation, Aya is well positioned to support its growth while establishing a new standard for innovative ESG financing in the global mining industry,” commented Benoit La Salle, CEO of Aya Gold & Silver.

Aya Gold & Silver last traded at $10.89 on the TSX.
