Azimut Exploration (TSXV: AZM) has confirmed that a new gold discovery has been made at their Wabamisk property in the James Bay region of Quebec. The discovery follows a maiden drill program that was conducted at the Rosa Zone of the property.
The maiden program consisted of a total of 26 holes that saw 3,633 metres of drilling in aggregate which is said to have confirmed that the Rosa Zone contains a laterally continuous gold system. Highlights from the results include:
- WR25-03: 1.29 g/t gold over 28.8 metres from a depth of 23.7 metres
- Including 3.26 g/t gold over 9.35 metres
- WR25-04: 2.10 g/t gold over 10.5 metres from a depth of 23.5 metres
- Including 4.03 g/t gold over 4.50 metres
- WR25-06: 2.99 g/t gold over 4.60 metres from a depth of 4.0 metres
- Including 12.98 g/t gold over 0.9 metres
- WR25-09: 1.63 g/t gold over 9.00 metres from a depth of 42.5 metres
- Including 8.50 g/t gold over 1.5 metres
The Rosa Zone is said to remain open along strike and at depth, with other subparallel targets remaining untested. Strike to date has been outlined as being 1.4 kilometres in an east-west direction. A mineralized envelope measuring 20 to 25 metres wide has been observed, with mineralization at Rosa said to be found in a sheared quartz vein system with minor disseminated sulphides in veins and altered host rocks.
A sub-parallel gold bearing trend has been identified 120 metres to the south of Rosa, with a strike length measuring 1,000 metres outlined to date. The target is planned to be defined by an IP survey in the near term, and is likely to be followed by drilling later this year.
A minimum 2,000 metre follow up drill program is planned at Rosa to further expand the mineralized footprint and define the system.
Azimut Exploration last traded at $0.94 on the TSX Venture.
