Benton Resources Completes 3,260 Metre Drill Program, Readies For Phase 3 Drilling

A phase two drill program conducted at the Great Burnt Copper Project in Newfoundland has been completed by Benton Resources (TSXV: BEX). The program, which amounted to 15 holes conducted across 3,260 metres in aggregate, has been labelled a success ahead of the receipt of assays.

The drill program is said to have successfully demonstrated that the deposit remains open for expansion, while also expanding the deposit by 50 metres down plunge and along strike to the south. Up and down dip limits of the main zone are also said to have been partially defined.

In terms of intersects, the drill holes are said to have hit stringer, semi-massive and/or massive sulphides over distances ranging from 0.5 metres to 17.75 metres. While assay results may not be in yet, the company is already looking forward to a phase three program that is slated to begin in May, which is to include further drilling, along with trenching, surface sampling, prospecting, mapping, and geochemistry.

“This will be an exciting summer for Benton and its shareholders as we embark on our third drill program at Great Burnt in the coming weeks. We have a tremendous amount of work to do on this highly prospective and underexplored 25 km volcanic belt at Great Burnt,” commented CEO Stephen Stares.

Benton continues to focus on massive sulphides in its exploration program, with the company planning to conduct downhole pulse electro-magnetics surveys on seven different holes in search of massive sulphides over a 300 to 400 metre area.

While a second phase of drilling may have just completed, Benton in January just finished releasing results from its phase one exploration program. That program saw a total of 22 drill holes conducted over an aggregate 5,651 metres. Highlights from that program include 5.51% copper over 25.42 metres and 8.79% copper over 6.03 metres, among other results.

Benton Resources last traded at $0.17 on the TSX Venture.
