Canopy Growth Sees Chief Legal Officer Resign

It appears that management changes might be coming to Canopy Growth Corp (TSX: WEED) (NASDAQ: CGC). The firm this morning filed an 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission, without issuing a corresponding news release, about a management departure.

Leaving the company is that of Phil Shaer, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of the firm. Shaer had been with the firm since 2016, first serving as General Counsel and VP of Human Resources. Two years later he was promoted to the role of Chief Legal Officer.

While filed by the company just this morning, as per the filing, Shaer actually handed in his notice nearly a week ago on September 14. A reason for his departure was not provided. The resignation is expected to be official as of October 1, 2021.

A replacement for Shaer has not yet been named.

Canopy Growth Corp last traded at $18.72 on the TSX.
