A drone has slammed into a residential high-rise in Romania, triggering an explosion and setting off a fire in one of the more alarming strikes on civilian infrastructure in the region.
The blast raised immediate questions about the drone’s origin and type. No determination had been confirmed in early reports, althought it is believed to be of Russian origin.

It’s yet unlikely that Romania, or NATO for that matter will respond kinetically to what was likely an accidental Russian drone impact on an apartment complex in eastern Romania. Barring repeated such events and/or fatalities, NATO will not be induced to respond…
Romania shares a border with Ukraine, where drone warfare has become a defining feature of the ongoing conflict. Stray or diverted aerial munitions have previously crossed into neighbouring territories.
