G Mining Ventures (TSX: GMIN) has secured a final approval for an environmental permit at the Oko West Gold Project in Guyana. The permit follows the submission of an environmental and social impact assessment in November, with a five year permit now having been granted.
The permit authorizes both the construction and operation of Oko West for G Mining, and follows the commencement of early works construction in March 2025. G Mining has already committed $190 million to the project, with long lead items on order, including mobile and marine equipment, grinding mills, the primary crusher and a power plant. While early works activities included the development of a wharf, as well as access roads and the construction of a permanent camp.
“The receipt of the Environmental Permit is a pivotal milestone that de-risks Oko West and clears the path toward a construction decision later this year. [..] With this approval, a favorable gold price outlook, and cash flow from TZ, GMIN is well-positioned to advance the Project in alignment with the highest environmental and social standards, creating lasting value for all stakeholders,” commented Louis-Pierre Gignac, CEO of G Mining Ventures.
A formal construction decision is expected to be made in the second half of 2025 for Oko West.
G Mining Ventures last traded at $20.59 on the TSX.
