An Iranian official told investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill that the psychologists joined the advisory circle after the initial round of bilateral talks in Islamabad in April, as both sides began exchanging proposed terms for a deal. Their assignment was to develop a psychological profile of the US president and help shape communications delivered to him through regional go-betweens, from the perspective of managing what the official called Trump’s “psychopathic behavior pattern.”
The official said Trump’s responses improved noticeably after the psychologists’ recommendations began shaping Iran’s written communications and negotiating strategy.
