London Silver Stocks Post Largest Monthly Decline Since 2016

Silver stocks in London vaults recorded their steepest monthly fall since records began in 2016, recent data from the London Bullion Market Association shows.

Holdings fell 8.6% in January to 23,528 tonnes, valued at approximately $23.9 billion, according to the LBMA’s monthly report. The decline comes despite silver’s USD value remaining unchanged month-to-month.

“Indeed, the pace of the outflow reflects the market functionality, albeit with delays,” the LBMA wrote in its report. “For silver, participants continue to closely watch blanket US tariff threats on key producing nations with concern.”

The data represents holdings in London commercial vaults and does not include jewelry or other private holdings held by retailers, individuals, and smaller vaults outside the London Clearing system.
