Anthropic is in early-stage talks to lease computing infrastructure from Meta, a potential deal that could be worth as much as US$10 billion over two years and would see the social media giant enter the cloud computing business.

The potential arrangement would add another major computing partner to Anthropic’s existing roster. The AI startup already holds multibillion-dollar compute licensing agreements with Google, SpaceX, Microsoft, and Amazon, a reflection of the fierce competition for processing power as AI labs race to develop and scale their models.
Meta, for its part, has been building out enormous infrastructure to support its own AI ambitions, and a leasing deal would open a new commercial avenue to help recoup those costs.
