Patriot Battery Metals Reports Initial Resource For Caesium At Flagship Project

Patriot Battery Metals (TSX: PMET) is placing an emphasis on caesium, with the company now defining a resource for the metal at their flagship Shaakichiuwaaanaan project in Quebec. The company has defined an initial resource for the Rigel and Vega zones of the CV13 pegmatite, which is predominantly focused on caesium resources.

Highlights from the results include:

  • Rigel Zone:
    • Indicated: 163,000 tonnes at 10.25% caesium, 1.78% lithium and 646 ppm tantalum
      • Containing 16,708 tonnes of caesium
  • Vega Zone:
    • Indicated: 530,000 tonnes at 2.61% caesium, 2.23% lithium and 172 ppm tantalum
      • Containing 13,833 tonnes of caesium
    • Inferred: 1,698,000 tonnes at 2.40% caesium, 1.81% lithium and 245 ppm tantalum
      • Containing 40,752 tonnes of caesium

The resources are contained within the CV13 pegmatite open pit resource of the consolidated mineral resource estimate for the project. The Rigel zone is said to contain a footprint of 200 metres by 100 metres, consisting of a single shallow dipping lens at a depth of 50 metres, while Vega measures 800 metres by 250 metres and is comprised of two lenses that extend to a depth of 110 metres.

The consolidated resource has been updated and restated, with the consolidated MRE now consisting of 108.0 million tonnes of indicated resources at 1.40% lithium, 0.11% caesium, 166 ppm tantalum and 66 ppm gallium, alongside 33.4 million tonnes of inferred resources at 1.33% lithium, 0.21% caesium, 155 ppm tantalum and 65 ppm gallium.

“At Shaakichiuwaanaan, we have now defined the largest reported occurrence of pollucite in the world – by a significant margin. To find a pollucite-hosted caesium deposit of this scale and grade is exceptionally rare, with only three deposits globally known to have produced this extremely high-value critical and strategic mineral,” commented Darren Smith, VP of Exploration for Patriot.

Patriot is now said to be evaluating options to advance and incorporate caesium as a potential saleable product withgin the overall development of the property, which is to follow the completion of a lithium-only feasibility study on the CV5 pegmatite.

Patriot Battery Metals last traded at $3.38 on the TSX.
