Drilling has begun under a planned winter 2024 exploration program at Power Nickel’s (TSXV: PNPN) flagship Nisk Nickel Sulfide project in Nemaska, Quebec.
The program will see the company focus on three priority objectives that it intends to complete at Nisk. These priorities include:
- Test four new target zones previously identified from Ambient Noise Tomography
- Test the extension of a PGM hole that intersected 1.47% copper, 0.28 g.t gold, 5.71 g/t palladium, and 20.78 g/t platinum over 7.75 metres
- Extend the known resource at Nisk Main
One of the main objectives, testing four new targets based on their ANT signature, follows a survey conducted in late 2023 with Fleet Space Technologies, an Australia-based developer and operator of microsatellites that are used for the purpose of exploration. Using sound mapping, the tech is capable of developing a three dimensional visualization of the subsurface to depths of up to two kilometres.
“These targets are hosted in areas showing a similar ‘ANT signature’ to Nisk Main. Given the right geology, each target represents a potential volume varying from 50% to 100% of the volume we have identified at Nisk Main,” commented CEO Terry Lynch on the targets generated from the study.
The drill program is slated to begin with a single drill focused on Nisk Main, which will then transition to testing ANT targets. A second drill rig is anticipated to join the program in February, which will begin following up on the PGM target at Wildcat.
