Trump Proposes ‘Migrant Fighting League’ at Evangelical Conference

Former President Donald Trump made controversial remarks about creating a sports league for migrants in a recent address to the Faith & Freedom Coalition. The proposal, which Trump claimed to have suggested to UFC CEO Dana White, involved pitting migrant fighters against established UFC champions.

Trump’s comments at the Washington conference included derogatory characterizations of migrants, describing them as “tough,” “nasty,” and claiming they “come from prisons.” He said that a migrant champion might potentially defeat a UFC champion due to their perceived toughness.

“And then you have the champion of your league — these are the greatest fighters in the world — fight the champion of the migrants? I think the migrant guy might win! That’s how tough they are,” Trump said.

White, when questioned about Trump’s statement at a UFC event, confirmed that the former president had indeed made such a proposal. However, White dismissed it as a joke, despite acknowledging Trump’s seriousness about the idea.

“It was a joke, it was a joke. I saw everybody going crazy online. But yeah, he did say it,” White said.

The Biden campaign swiftly condemned Trump’s remarks, characterizing them as a “rambling, confused tirade” that was inappropriate for a conference focused on Christian values. Campaign spokeswoman Sarafina Chitika stated that Trump’s comments demonstrated why he should not be allowed near the White House again.

These latest comments align with Trump’s ongoing focus on immigration as a key issue in his 2024 presidential campaign. His platform includes promises of extensive raids and the use of military funds for detainment camps for undocumented individuals.

Critics have noted that some of Trump’s rhetoric echoes historical instances of racial hatred, particularly in his description of migrants “poisoning the blood of our country.”
