Investors will be waiting to hear commentary from consumer staple companies such as Walmart (NYSE: WMT), The Home Depot (NYSE: HD), as well as Molson Coors (NYSE: TAP) and Caesars Entertainment (NASDAQ: CZR) to get a better pulse on the economy. Recent economic data coming out of the United States and Canada suggests that the consumer is much stronger than anticipated after one of the fastest and most aggressive rate hiking cycles implemented by central banks, and investors will want to verify that data with earnings data.

Investors will also be interested in hearing from smaller names such as Etsy, Fiverr, Wish, and Wayfair to provide better insight into how the small business is doing. Investors will also be watching Nvidia’s results as the chips sector has been one of the largest battlegrounds for longs and shorts arguing about the oversupply of chips. This comes after 2020, through 2021, wherein there were reports that the world as a whole did not have enough computer chips to match demand.
