Canada Nickel Reports Recoveries Of Up To 59% Nickel From Mann Property Samples

Canada Nickel Company (TSXV: CNC) has completed the first round of metallurgical test work on samples from its Mann Northwest property. Testing was done utilizing the flowsheet designed for the nearby Crawford Nickel Sulphide project.

The metallurgical testing consisted of two open circuit tests on samples with head grades of 0.29% and 0.30% nickel. Nickel recoveries utilizing the previously developed flowsheet came in at 59% and 58%, while iron recoveries stood at 44% and 48%, respectively. Cobalt recoveries meanwhile were 28% and 15%, while chromium recoveries in both tests amounted to 10%.

The recovered nickel was utilized to create a nickel concentrate with a grade of over 38% nickel. Iron concentrate grades meanwhile amounted to 58% and 62%, respectively.

Moving forward, further metallurgical work is to include a variability open circuit testing program, followed by locked cycle testing, the results of which will be used in future engineering studies.

“These initial results at Mann Northwest, along with our earlier success achieved at Reid using the standard flowsheet developed for Crawford, demonstrate the potential to leverage our development work at Crawford across the portfolio of targets throughout the Timmins Nickel District,” commented CEO Mark Selby.

Canada Nickel last traded at $1.39 on the TSX Venture.
