General Motors’ (NYSE: GM) 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Truck set a new benchmark for electric vehicle range, traveling 539 miles on a single charge during testing by automotive website Edmunds, surpassing its EPA estimate by 47 miles.
Lol holy shit. GM just crushed Tesla and delivered more range than the highest end CT was supposed to deliver by a wide margin. https://t.co/0hszYu4Szl

Priced at $77,795, the Silverado Work Truck represents the entry-level variant in the Silverado EV lineup. It shares the same 205-kWh battery pack with its upmarket siblings, the Silverado EV RST and Sierra EV Denali, both of which also exceeded their EPA estimates in testing.
They attribute the Work Truck’s superior range to its no-frills configuration compared to the feature-laden RST and Denali models, which include luxury appointments that add significant weight. However, Edmunds reports the truck’s efficiency remains substantially lower than other electric vehicles.
The vehicle recorded an efficiency rating of 45.3 kWh per 100 miles — the best figure Edmunds has measured for an electric truck, though significantly less efficient than the Lucid Air’s 28.3 kWh per 100 miles.
Weighing 8,466 pounds, the Silverado EV Work Truck is approximately 1,500 pounds heavier than competitors, including the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T, according to Edmunds data.
Performance testing showed the truck accelerating to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and completing a quarter mile in 14.1 seconds at 98.3 mph, figures that trail those of its higher-trim counterparts.
The Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) Cybertruck by comparison was nowhere near the top of the list. That spot on Edmunds’ EV Range Test leaderboard was previously held by the 2022 Lucid Air before it was briefly taken over by the 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali.
Tesla places highest at #22 with the 2022 Model S Plaid at 345 miles, which is 3 miles short of the EPA estimate.
