Fireweed Metals Hits 4.88% Zinc Over 46 Metres At New Discovery At Macpass
Fireweed Metals (TSXV: FWZ) is reporting a new discovery at the Macpass project in the Yukon. The discovery, made at the Popcorn target, follows a seven hole drill program that saw mineralization intersected in each hole.
Highlights from the drill results include:
- NB24-002: 3.98% zinc, 3.9 g/t silver over 54.75 metres from a depth of 15.75 metres, including 6.71% zinc, 5.9 g/t silver over 19.78 metres
- NB24-004: 4.88% zinc, 3.6 g/t silver over 46.03 metres from a depth of 10.83 metres, including 8.27% zinc, 5.3 g/t silver over 24.96 metres
- NB24-005: 3.70% zinc, 3.8 g/t silver over 53.95 metres from a depth of 81.12 metres, including 8.69% zinc, 5.1 g/t silver over 11.54 metres
The seven drill holes conducted were drilled across 1,476 metres in aggregate, intersecting both vein and replacement style mineralization. The Popcorn target is found 600 metres to the northeast of the Boundary Zone, where an open-pit shell model currently exists. Mineralization at popcorn has been traced over a strike length of 200 metres, which is open along strike and at depth. Mineralization is currently said to be similar in style to that found at the Boundary Zone.
“Popcorn represents the first exploration success stemming from our regional exploration program this year at Macpass. Identifying near-surface zinc mineralization and defining its continuity less than a kilometre from the pit-shell that constrains the resource at Boundary Zone is significant in establishing Popcorn as an exciting exploration opportunity,” commented Peter Hemstead, CEO of Fireweed.
Fireweed Metals last traded at $1.48 on the TSX Venture.
