Mark Zuckerberg Sells $134 Million Worth of Meta Shares In One Day
Meta Platforms (Nasdaq: META) founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrated Facebook’s 20th anniversary by cashing in on the tech giant’s gains. On Thursday, he disclosed that he sold $134 million worth of shares earlier this week, and on Wednesday sold the most in one day since 2018.
SEC filings show that Zuckerberg, who holds 13% of Meta’s shares, has sold shares worth about $765 million since November.
Before this selling spree, the last time Zuckerberg sold Meta shares was in November 2021. The equity’s price, which saw a seven-year low during an advertising slowdown and his Metaverse obsession post-pandemic, rebounded by 194% last year.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuck’s wealth has grown $40.7 billion year-to-date and it’s only been 40 days since the year started. He’s now fourth on the list, overtaking Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) founder Bill Gates, with an estimated net worth of $169 billion.
