MrBeast Buys Up Neighborhood for His Nearest and Dearest

YouTube megastar Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has quietly been buying homes in his hometown of Greenville, North Carolina, for himself, his family, and his employees, according to the New York Post.

Donaldson is known for starting a genre of videos featuring expensive stunts, and over-the-top, sometimes life-threatening challenges. His main channel was 2022’s most-subscribed YouTube channel with over 150 million subscribers as of this writing.

He’s used this massive reach to branch out into other YouTube channels (he has about a dozen more, with millions of followers each), for philanthropic efforts, and to develop his brand outside of the platform

It seems that he’s also used his wealth to keep his family and staff in the neighborhood.

The philanthropic YouTuber has purchased five modest homes in the area, paying more than usual for each, including one for himself in 2018 for about $320,000.

His two-story house features four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen with granite countertops and a pantry, a family room with a gas log fireplace, and a screened-in rear porch. The second level contains three additional bedrooms, a laundry room, and a bonus room. The property also includes a patio, a basketball court, and a separate storage building.

Since buying his home, Donaldson slowly bought the surrounding homes for family and employees. He purchased the second property on the street in 2020 for $263,000 and the remaining three off-market homes for a combined $1.45 million the following year.

According to his former neighbor Aaron Bowden, there is just one hold-out house whose owners likely want their children to finish school in the area.
