Tesla Forced To Recall All Cybertrucks Due To Faulty Pedal Trim

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has been forced to recall its Cybertruck over faulty trim related to its acceleration pedal.

The bulletin, posted on Wednesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, states that “The accelerator pedal pad may dislodge and become trapped by the interior trim.” The issue has notably been the feature of social media posts as of late, with consumers demonstrating how the pedal can get stuck due to the trip becoming loose.

The recall is said to impact 3,878 Cybertrucks that have been shipped by the company to date, which comprises all model year 2024 units. Tesla service is expected to replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly as part of the recall, free of charge. Notification letters are slated to be mailed in June.

The recall follows a tumultuous week for the electric vehicle maker, whom earlier this week disclosed it would be laying off approximately 10% of its workforce, or 14,000 employees, in a cost cutting effort. At the same time, it is cutting production shifts for the Cybertruck at its Texas factory, suggesting a lack of demand for the much-touted vehicle.

Tesla last traded at $149.93 on the Nasdaq.
