Leafly Names SPAC Merger’s Board Of Directors

Leafly Holdings announced on Tuesday the members of the board that will following the business combination with blank-check company Merida Merger Corp. I (Nasdaq: MCMJ). The list is said to bring “wide-ranging expertise and diverse perspectives.”

The online cannabis platform’s CEO Yoko Miyashita and Merida Merger’s president Peter Lee join the group of executives coming from various industries.

The board of directors includes Michael Blue, co-founder and managing partner of cannabis-focused private equity firm Privateer Holdings. The firm founded a number of cannabis companies like Tilray and Left Coast Ventures. It also acquired Leafly in 2011 until it redistributed equity back to shareholders in 2019.

Other names in the list include Cassandra Chandler, founder and CEO of leadership consulting firm Vigeo Alliance and a former federal monitor with the New York Police Department; Blaise Judja-Sato, founder of healthcare social enterprises VillageReach and Resilience Trust; and Alan Pickerill, former CFO of online travel platform Expedia Group.

“This is the right group to guide Leafly through the next phase of our growth roadmap, said Miyashita. “We look forward to benefiting from their valuable insights as we accelerate our leadership in the legal cannabis market and create even more value for consumers, partners, and shareholders.”

The cannabis firm is set to be taken public by Merida Merger in a transaction that puts its diluted enterprise value at US$385 million.

Merida Merger last traded at $10.04 on the Nasdaq.
