Playstation to Drop X Integration Starting Next Week

Sony is set to end its integration with the social media service formerly known as Twitter, now referred to as X, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. This change is scheduled to take effect on November 13, as announced in a notice on PlayStation’s support website.

For the past decade, PlayStation users have used this integration to effortlessly share screenshots and gameplay clips on social media platforms. Thousands of media pieces captured on PlayStation are regularly shared on X, using hashtags like #PS4Share and #PS5Share.

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) removed Twitter/X integration from Xbox consoles and the Game Bar on Windows earlier this year. Microsoft’s decision coincided with changes in Twitter/X’s API pricing structure, which would have potentially cost Microsoft more than $40,000 per month.

At present, the Nintendo Switch, another current-generation console, still supports media sharing on the X platform.
