Sen. Lindsay Graham Faces Arrest Warrant From Russia Following Controversial Remarks

Russia’s Interior Ministry has issued an arrest warrant for Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, citing comments he made concerning the conflict in Ukraine.

The move came in response to a video snippet from a meeting between Graham and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In the video, Graham acknowledged Russian casualties and referred to US military aid to Ukraine as the best expenditure ever. The video, assembled by the Ukrainian presidential office, juxtaposed these statements, sparking outrage in Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov publicly condemned Graham, arguing such comments were a disgrace.

Russia’s top criminal investigation agency, the Investigative Committee, subsequently initiated a criminal inquiry against Graham, which was followed by the Interior Ministry’s arrest warrant. Graham, who is on a list of more than 200 US Congress members banned from Russia, expressed satisfaction with the Russian reaction on Twitter. He vowed to continue supporting Ukraine until all Russian forces were removed and claimed the arrest warrant from Putin’s government as a “Badge of Honour.”
