For this episode of DD-on-the-GO!, Steve heads back to Cobalt, Ontario, the town whose silver helped finance railways, hydro projects and even Casa Loma.
More than a century after Cobalt became one of the richest silver camps on Earth, Brixton Metals (TSXV: BBB) is drilling the historic Langis Mine and finding extraordinarily high-grade native silver in areas that were never mined before. One recent hole returned more than 5,000 g/t silver over 20 metres, including a narrower interval approaching 90,000 g/t.
But this story is bigger than one drill hole. Silver prices have surged, exploration technology has changed dramatically, and Ontario has introduced new rules that make reprocessing historic mine waste easier. Brixton is now testing both fresh mineralization and old tailings as it looks at whether a century-old silver camp can become economically relevant again.
Steve walks the property, looks at visible native silver firsthand, meets the people working the project and explores why Cobalt suddenly looks very different than it did just a few years ago.
