WeedMD Inc (TSXV: WMD) this morning announced that it has added another local of LiUNA to its medical cannabis program under its Starseed Medicinal subsidiary. The additional of Local 1258 marks the sixth such local to to be added to the firms medical cannabis program.
Notably, the addition of Local 1258 marks the first foray out of Ontario in terms of union locals. The latest is headquartered in Manitoba, while previous chapters added include Toronto, Hamilton, Windsor and London. The company did not provide specifics on the size of the local, instead indicating that LiUNA itself consists of 300,000 workers across Canada.
Commenting on the announcement, Executive Chairman and interim CEO George Scorsis stated, “Starseed has been providing cannabis education and a full service medical platform rooted in medical-grade cannabis products to LiUNA members since 2018, and we welcome Local 1258 to our unique program.”
Eligible members as well as their family members will now be able to access Starseed’s medical cannabis provider via their benefits provider, enhancing the distribution of the firms products.
