Andrew Tate, Brother Face New Accusations Of Trafficking Minors Via “Loverboy” Scheme

The criminal case against controversial internet influencer Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan, has taken a new turn with revelations that the brothers are being investigated for the trafficking of minors, alongside a slew of other grave charges. This development comes amid ongoing legal battles, as the brothers face accusations that could lead to significant legal consequences on both sides of the Atlantic.

Newly surfaced documents from the Romanian anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, detail the severity of the allegations against the Tate brothers. The document reveals that Tristan was involved in the recruitment of a minor in 2020, using the notorious “loverboy” method, a tactic that involves seducing victims into a relationship before coercing them into prostitution.

This victim was allegedly exploited for the purposes of prostitution—a fact that the Romanian police were alerted to in 2021. This charge falls under Article 211, Paragraph 1 and 2 of the Romanian Criminal Code, which pertains to trafficking in minors. The indictment also includes charges of human trafficking, sexual intercourse with a minor, and money laundering.

This isn’t the first time the Tates have found themselves in the legal spotlight. The brothers, who were arrested near Bucharest in December 2022, have been under investigation for months. They, along with two Romanian women, were formally indicted last year.

Despite their indictment, both Andrew and Tristan have consistently denied any wrongdoing, framing the charges as part of a larger political conspiracy against them.

The case’s implications extend beyond Romania’s borders. Given Andrew’s U.S. citizenship, the legal repercussions could reach as far as the United States. The 2003 PROTECT Act, signed into law by former President George W. Bush, rules that U.S. citizens are subject to the U.S. age of consent laws regardless of where the crime occurs. This could mean that if Andrew is found guilty of sexual crimes involving minors in Romania, he could also face prosecution in the United States, where the penalties for such crimes are severe.

The Tate brothers, both former kickboxers, have carved out a notorious online presence, amassing millions of followers by promoting a brand of hyper-masculinity and misogyny. Andrew, in particular, has been vocal about his disdain for women, openly promoting harmful stereotypes and behaviors. His incendiary rhetoric led to his ban from multiple social media platforms before he found a haven on X, where he currently boasts 9.9 million followers.

Romanian authorities initially detained the brothers for three months following their December 2022 arrest before moving them to house arrest. They were later restricted to Bucharest and the surrounding Ilfov county as they awaited further legal proceedings.

The legal saga took another twist in July 2023 when a Romanian court ruled that the brothers could not leave the country until their trial concluded, reversing an earlier decision that allowed them to travel within the European Union.

In addition to the ongoing Romanian case, British authorities have also sought the Tates’ extradition on charges of sexual aggression related to incidents between 2012 and 2015. However, the Bucharest Court of Appeal ruled that any extradition would only occur after the conclusion of the Romanian legal process.

Despite the severity of the charges, Andrew continues to assert his innocence. After a recent raid on his property, he complained to the press about the slow progression of the case. “What I’ve done wrong, who knows,” he remarked, casting himself as a victim of a corrupt system. However, many of his detractors remain skeptical.
