Pichette argued that the Canadian public heavily subsidizes the education of the very graduates who then flee for American salaries. He estimated the cost of producing a top-tier graduate student at roughly $500,000. With approximately 30,000 TN visas issued to Canadians annually, Pichette claims the country is losing between $5 billion and $10 billion every year.
His proposed remedy was blunt: “Shut the TN program.” For those who still wish to seek fortunes abroad, Pichette suggested they should have to buy their way out. “Keep them in Canada, or make them pay their half a million so that if they leave, I’m okay with that,” he said. “You want to go to the U.S.? Give me back my money. Like my dad, my mom, you all work every day to offer them their education.”

Marxist authoritarianism. Build opportunities here in Canada so there is no driver to leave. The fact that the federal government has bee shutting down productive resource utilization technology development and the benefits that it offers Canadian workers including labourers, technicians, engineers and scientists means that of course intelligent people find something else to do, either doing unsustainable real estate development in Canada, leaving the country, or worst of all joining the enemy that is the public sector. The very fact that the governments in Canada are encouraging youth to go into trades so they can help build real estate for immigrants while China is enjcouragoing their youth to become engineers ane scientists is sickening. As a retired engineer, I am so glad I grew up in a more free enterprise county!
